Understanding the Immune System in Simple Terms
Your immune system is your body’s defense system. ts job is to protect you from infections, viruses, and anything it thinks is “foreign.” Now here’s where it gets interesting. An embryo is actually half from you and half from your partner — so technically, it is “partly foreign” to your body. Normally, the body understands this and allows pregnancy to happen. But in some cases, the immune system may react differently.
Instead of supporting the embryo, the body may treat it like something it needs to fight.
